The 1st Brunei Internet Chess Blitz will be held on 15 July 2008 at 2:00 PM (GMT+08.00 or 02:00AM ICC server time or 02:00 AM in New York or 08:00 AM in CET). This online chess tournament is co-organized by the National Committee for His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam 62nd Birthday Celebrations Chess Tournament 2008, the Brunei Chess Federation (BCF) and the Internet Chess Club (ICC), the longest running, most popular, and best place to play chess on the Internet, in conjunction with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mui’zzadin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam 62nd Birthday Celebrations.read more

WITH a telltale club motto of ‘More Kids, More Chess, More Fun’, the driving force behind the Brunei Chess Federation, BCF is hard to miss as members continuously encourage and nurture young chess players in a bid to further enhance the sport in the country.

Established in the early sixties, the club was originally known as Brunei Chess Association. It obtained Federation status upon its membership in the Asean Chess Confederation in 2000. Here are the prize funds for the 1st Brunei Chess Federation Internet Chess Blitz. The total prize fund amounts to USD$6,500 of which USD$4,000 plus membership extensions are available to players from all countries. For Brunei players, win cool prizes such as a return air ticket to Singapore, a 2 day stay at the Empire Hotel and Country Club, a chess training software package, a 1 year subscription to Chess Magazine and cash prizes for the age groups categories.
